PICTURING THE OBAMAS

Follow the National Portrait Gallery's Obama portraits as they travel to prominent art museums in five U.S. cities offering hope to millions of Americans.

Using the Obama portraits as a lens and an opportunity for learning, this documentary explores the 44th President’s legacy of hope and representation. From museums in Chicago, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Houston, artists, museum curators, visitors, and the Obamas themselves share their thoughts. Everyday people —  a Latina community organizer, members of a Black sorority —engage with the portraits and reflect on their profound and personal meaning.
